Indicator 15.6.1 - Number of countries that have adopted legislative, administrative and policy frameworks to ensure fair and equitable sharing of benefits

This indicator focuses on progress made in adopting frameworks to ensure fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the utilization of genetic resources. It refers to the efforts made by countries to implement two major international instruments regarding the management of genetic resources; Nagoya Protocol to Convention on Biological Diversity and International Treaty on PGRFA.

This portal only presents data for three out of the five data series pertaining to the implementation of the International Treaty on PGRFA, namely ER_CBD_SMTA, ER_CBD_ORSPGRFA and ER_CBD_PTYPGFRA. These three series are compiled by FAO, whereas the overall custodianship of the indicator lies with CBD. Data on the other two series, pertaining to the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol, can be accessed on the global SDG database.
