„ Since 2023 municipal waste intended for recycling total is municipal waste intended for material recycling and municipal waste intended for composting or fermentation combined. Please note: The statistical data published by GUS are for information and reporting purposes only and do not constitute a legal basis for calculating the recycling rates reported to the European Commission. Data on municipal waste management directions are estimates until 2022. From 2023, the data - share of waste landfilled in collected mixed waste is not comparable with previous years, due to a change in the calculation method. Data on municipal waste collected designated for composting or fermentation refer to waste collected separately directed to the R3 process, resulting in a fertilizer or soil improvement product used on the land surface. The data does not include information on the amount of waste composted in home composters.Municipal waste destined for thermal conversion is waste directed for incineration in R1 and D10 processes in a given year, both in municipal waste incineration plants and co-incineration plants, i.e. in cement plants or fuel combustion plants in Poland and abroad. The data also includes those wastes that were directed to thermal conversion, but for various reasons were not incinerated in the given reporting year and are stored. Data on municipal waste destined for storage are wastes directed to processes: D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D5, D7 or D12, as well as waste diverted to other treatment processes that result in non-conforming compost for reclamation of landfills and pits."
