As part of the "Good Start" program, for each learning child, at the beginning of the school year, a benefit for a school layette is paid once a year. It amounts to PLN 300 and is independent of the income obtained by the family. The benefit is granted for every child who continues his or her education at school until he or she reaches the age of 20 and, in the case of a disabled child, until the age of 24. Since 2021 data for Poland in total may be different from the sum of data for individual territorial units. Data that can not be assigned to a specific commune are only included the total. Due to a change in the scope of data provided by ZUS, data on the amount of benefits paid was calculated as the number of children for whom benefits were granted multiplied by PLN 300.
However, data on the number of children (and students) for whom benefits were paid was presented as the actual number of children who received benefits, and not, as in previous years, the number of benefits paid.
