Romania’s unadjusted index of people employed in wholesale, retail and vehicle repair rose from 113.8 to a record 153.5 in Q1 2026, a 34.9% quarterly increase. It is the highest reading in a series beginning in Q1 2000, but the abrupt break from a steady recent pattern calls for caution.
